The Holyfield

    We are a community based organization that focuses on music, education and empowerment. The Holyfield was founded in 2014 in the California art district of Barrio Logan. On the cross section of Logan & Sampson. The Holyfield operates as an organization without walls and partners with other organizations.

OUR Mission:

We are a dedicated community of artist and educators that focus on the artistic and personal development of our community members through media. Some would call us an agency but we are more like community agents. We create content including music, video production and marketing for various community businesses.

OUR Vision :

Provide the community with cultural engagement opportunities through community space, events, and programs within music, art and education

OUR Purpose :

Raise awareness and provide social emotional support through music and education. Leading young people to interpersonal progression, opportunities and access to jobs in the creative industries.

Ramel Wallace is the CEO of The Holyfield

Ramel Wallace is the CEO of The Holyfield

Ramel Wallace is the CEO of The Holyfield and has been a Hip Hop artist for 12+ Years. As a black artist born & raised in San Diego, it is his mission to represent the underrepresented and to speak for the unspoken. Real J became one of the original founders of thChrch in Barrio Logan, San Diego. He is best known for his work with Abjo of Soulection and former Universal recording artist Blu under the artist Real J Wallace. In 2015, Ramel was mentored by Macklemore producer Ryan Lewis and awarded the “2015 Delta Innovation Award” by Delta Airlines. Wallace currently serves an Artist to Entrepreneur Digital Course Mentor at thChrch and is on the board at the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art, while mastering PR & marketing at BAM Communications

Danny Nguyen is the Co-Founder of The Holyfield and accomplished Graphic Designer and Music Producer. He is a advisor, contributor and designer for The Holyfield.

Daniel Koestner - Education Director

Daniel Koestner - Education Director

Daniel Koestner is the Education Director and teaching artist at The Holyfield. He has done some custom composing work for various projects including a Target commercial in 2014 and more recently as the lead composer for the story-filled physics puzzle game, Donut County (Annapurna Interactive). His soundtrack for Donut County was nominated for Best Music Supervision in a Video Game at the 9th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.

As a PhD candidate in Oceanography with a focus on optics at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Daniel Koestner exists between the worlds of science and art. His creative process with music can be characterized as methodological and uses technology as both an instrument and a tool. His music is often rich with layers of finger-picked nylon and metal strings coupled with organic percussive elements and field recordings. He would describe his music as “sonic collages” with a sound very unique to him. Others have referred to his music as dreamy, lush, joyful, oceanic, folk-hop, and experimental.

Angela Santora - Life Enhancer, Trauma Yoga Instructor at The Holyfield

Angela Santora is a certified trauma Yoga teacher, artist and social advocate. She enhances the lives of others by articulating her artistry with deep interpersonal conversation and life action. Originally a Boston native, Angela has turned San Diego into her home literally. Angela has painted Murals in National City, pushing initiatives in placemaking.

In 2017 and continuing in 2019 Angela has worked in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity,  A.R.T.S. ( A Reason To Survive), the Cooperative School, The Hope House, The Holyfield, thChrch.

Angela currently Host yoga with The Holyfield to promote wellness in the community.
